Woman killed in crash in Hamilton Township

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — A woman died Tuesday after a collision at the intersection of Weymouth Road and Mizpah Road.

Police responded to the crash at approximately 4:08 p.m.

Janet Wooding, 80, of Mays Landing, was driving a 1995 BMW 525 northbound on Weymouth Road and was attempting to make a left turn onto Mizpah Road, according to police.

At the same time, a 2021 Kenworth T3 Series truck operated by James Birch, 58, of Estell Manor, was traveling southbound on Weymouth Road.

Both vehicles collided in the intersection.

Wooding sustained traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

No additional injuries were reported.

The roadway was shut down for approximately four hours while the scene was investigated.

The Township of Hamilton Rescue Squad, Mays Landing Fire Department, Weymouth Fire Department, Laureldale Fire Department, the Atlantic County Prosecutors Office and the New Jersey Department of Transportation also assisted at the scene.
