Officer Mekhi Barnett was patrolling shortly after 1 a.m. when a Dodge Charger passed his cruiser at a high rate of speed.

Seconds later, Barnett found the vehicle wrecked against trees near the intersection of Walnut Hill Road after the driver lost control.

The driver was uninjured and no other parties were hurt in the crash.
