COLEBROOK, NH — A 22-year-old Bolivian national was arrested on Main Street following a traffic stop on Nov. 25.
Jose Carlos Baldivieso Campoy was taken into custody at 6:45 p.m. after Officer Bishop of the Colebrook Police Department stopped him for multiple traffic violations.
During the stop, the officer determined Campoy was in the country illegally.
Police confirmed Campoy had been in the United States illegally since 2016, when his visa expired.
Campoy told police he was working as a sub-contractor for a cable company.
Officer Bishop contacted U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which requested Campoy be arrested and held for pickup.
Campoy’s vehicle was towed and he was transported to the Colebrook Police Department for booking.
He was picked up by ICE the following morning.
