NEW HAVEN COUNTY, CT — A 26-year-old man faces multiple charges after allegedly fleeing from police and crashing into another vehicle Thursday evening.

Jonathan Villa, of Connecticut, was arrested following a pursuit that began when an officer observed his vehicle committing multiple motor vehicle violations on Derby Avenue at approximately 6:45 p.m.

PTL Tirado located the vehicle on Academy Hill Road and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.

Villa allegedly sped away, passing several cars on the wrong side of the road.

Near High Street, Villa’s vehicle struck a curb, causing him to lose control and sideswiping an uninvolved motor vehicle, which disabled his vehicle.

An inventory search of Villa’s vehicle recovered a replica Glock BB gun, classified as a dangerous weapon, and two black ski masks.

Villa is a convicted felon.

He was charged with weapon in a motor vehicle, carrying a dangerous weapon, interfering with a police officer, failure to insure a motor vehicle, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, no front marker plate, misuse of marking plate, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, traveling too fast for conditions, reckless driving, engaging police in pursuit and three counts of failure to maintain proper lane position.

Villa was held on $75,000 bond and was scheduled to appear at Derby Superior Court on Nov. 6.

The Derby Fire Department and Storm Ambulance Corps assisted at the scene and treated passengers involved in the motor vehicle accident.
