Lowell man wanted in Westfield truck theft, possibly in Wyoming

LOWELL — Vermont State Police are seeking a 26-year-old man, possibly in Wyoming, in connection with the theft of a plow/dump truck from the Westfield Town garage in February.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Colbi Matten, previously of Lowell, whose current whereabouts are unknown. Police believe he may be in Wyoming.

Vermont State Police received a report at 3:25 a.m. on February 14, 2025, that a plow/dump truck had been stolen from the Westfield Town garage on Vermont Route 100.

Later that morning, the dump truck was seen traveling on Route 100 near the intersection of Route 100C in Eden. The vehicle was later seen traveling north on Route 100 and went off the road near the Eden-Lowell town line.

An unknown male was seen exiting the dump truck and entering a white sedan, which was last seen traveling north on Route 100.

Following investigation, police identified Matten as the suspect. He faces charges of aggravated operation without owner’s consent, crash — duty to stop, grossly negligent operation and petit larceny.

The victim is listed as Kennison & Son’s Excavating and the Town of Westfield.
