NEWPORT — Four North Country Union High School students are gaining hands-on experience this fall through the school’s Work-Based Learning Program, which connects students with local businesses to explore career pathways and develop workplace skills while earning school credit.

Mackenzie Archer, Matthew Broadbent, Aidan Cheny and Philip Luna are working at Judd’s Plants, a business located at 20 Elm Street in Newport. The students have demonstrated strong work ethic, positive attitudes and eagerness to learn, according to program coordinators.

The Work-Based Learning Program is coordinated by North Country’s Seneca Smith and Jen Charles of VABIR/HireAbility. The program helps students explore career options while working in the community.

Meagan Judd, owner of Judd’s Plants, has welcomed the students into her business to provide real-world learning experiences.

The North Country WBL Program recognized the students for representing their school and community while developing skills and exploring future career pathways, and thanked Judd for welcoming students into her business and helping them discover the value of real-world learning.
