CONKLIN, NY — A traffic stop on Oct. 30 led to the arrest of a 32-year-old man on multiple charges.
Riley M. Merrick, of Candor, was arrested by New York State Police at Binghamton for misdemeanor false personation and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.
Troopers initiated the traffic stop after observing a vehicle cross over the center pavement markings on Conklin Road.
During the interview, the operator provided a false name to troopers.
Troopers determined Merrick was lying about his identity because he had an active arrest warrant with the Elmira City Police Department.
He was arrested and found in possession of suspected illegal drugs.
Merrick was transported to SP Binghamton and processed.
He is scheduled to appear at Conklin Town Court on Nov. 13.
Merrick was turned over to the Elmira City Police Department to answer to his arrest warrant.
