KINGSTON, NY — Kingston Police arrested three people and charged them with burglary after officers interrupted a break-in in progress on Oct. 23.
Christopher Escobar, 39, of Rhinebeck, was charged with two counts of felony criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree, felony criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, felony burglary in the second degree, misdemeanor criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree and misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.
Zachary T. Wagner, 32, of Kingston, was charged with felony burglary in the second degree, felony tampering with physical evidence, misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree and misdemeanor obstructing governmental administration.
Jade Terwillegar, 30, of Port Ewen, was charged with felony burglary in the second degree and misdemeanor obstructing governmental administration.
Police officers conducting a routine premise check at 125 Emerson Street interrupted the burglary in progress.
The suspects attempted to flee, but Wagner and Terwillegar were apprehended after a short chase.
Escobar was located nearby in a vehicle.
All three were arrested, charged, processed and held for arraignment.
Following arraignment in Kingston City Court on Friday, Wagner and Terwillegar were remanded to Ulster County Jail on bail.
Escobar was released on his own recognizance.
Kingston Police was assisted by the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are anticipated.
