BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ — A pedestrian was airlifted to Jersey Shore Medical Center after being struck by a vehicle on Route 9.
Patrol units were dispatched to the area of 170 Route 9 at 9:30 a.m. for a report of a pedestrian struck.
Upon arrival, officers determined that a female pedestrian had walked into traffic and was hit by a vehicle.
After being struck, the pedestrian was pushed back into the shoulder portion of the roadway.
First aid and RWJ medics arrived on scene and determined that the pedestrian needed to be airlifted due to the extent of injuries.
The pedestrian was transported to a landing zone and airlifted without incident.
The driver of the vehicle was checked on scene by first aid and refused medical treatment.
The crash remains under investigation by the Berkeley Township Police Department Traffic Safety Bureau.
