Woman arrested on DUI charge in Jericho

JERICHO — A 68-year-old woman was arrested on a DUI charge after multiple 911 calls reported erratic driving on Oct. 14.

The Vermont State Police received the calls at approximately 5:07 p.m. reporting erratic operation in the area of Browns Trace Road and Vermont Route 15.

Troopers responded to the area, located the vehicle and conducted a motor vehicle stop on Vermont Route 15 at Allen Irish Road in Westford.

The operator was identified as Julie J. Benay, 68, of Fairfax.

While speaking with Benay, troopers detected multiple indicators of impairment.

After a roadside investigation, Benay was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and transported to the Williston Barracks for processing.

Benay was issued a citation to appear at Chittenden County Superior Court on Nov. 4 at 8:30 a.m. to answer to the charge of DUI.
