COLEBROOK — A Colebrook police officer initiated a motor vehicle stop inside a trailer park on Oak Street at 11:50 p.m. on Sept. 9 due to misuse of registration plates.

The officer observed several known drug users inside the vehicle and ordered them to exit.

Upon exiting the vehicle, the officer observed a pipe in Anthony Cushing’s rear pocket.

The officer detained the 29-year-old Columbia, New Hampshire, resident and removed the object along with another pipe located beside it.

The pipe contained a powdery residue consistent with illicit controlled drugs.

A subsequent search of his person revealed more paraphernalia with residue.

Cushing was charged with possession of a controlled drug and contempt of court.

He was currently on bail for several drug distribution charges and domestic assault.

Cash bail was set at $5,000 based on the new charges and existing bail conditions.

Cushing was transported to the Coos County jail to await arraignment.
