Liberty man arrested on child sex assault charges

LIBERTY — The New York State Police Child Abuse Unit in Troop F announced the arrest of Joseph W. Wallace, 51, of Liberty, following an investigation into unlawful sexual conduct involving a minor.

Wallace has been charged with predatory sexual assault of a child, a class A-II felony.

He also faces rape in the third degree, a class E felony.

Additionally, Wallace was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, class A misdemeanors.

The investigation was conducted by the New York State Police Child Abuse Unit in collaboration with Child Protective Services.

The allegations involve Wallace engaging in sexual contact with a female under the age of 13 in the town of Neversink and a female under the age of 17 in the town of Fallsburg.

Wallace was arraigned Sept. 16 in Fallsburg Town Court and was remanded to Sullivan County Jail without bail.

He is scheduled to appear again in Fallsburg Town Court on Sept. 17 at 5:30 p.m.
