DARIEN — Darien police have identified an Arkansas juvenile as responsible for a threatening social media post directed at Darien High School.

The post was made on Instagram and referenced a firearm, according to Police Chief Jeremiah P. Marron Jr.

Darien High School was placed on a two-hour delay and then closed Sept. 16 out of an abundance of caution during the early stages of the investigation.

Darien detectives worked with Meta Platforms Inc., the FBI and the Connecticut Intelligence Center to trace the account to the juvenile.

Police are now working with Arkansas law enforcement.

The juvenile has been located and is being questioned by authorities.

There is currently no known credible threat to any school in Darien, police said.

The investigation is continuing.
