Man arrested on DUI, other charges after fleeing Massachusetts trooper into Guilford

GUILFORD — Vermont State Police arrested a 65-year-old Lowell man on multiple charges after he allegedly nearly struck a Massachusetts State Trooper and fled into Vermont without stopping.

David A. McAllister was charged with DUI, violation of conditions of release, criminal driver’s license suspension and false reports to law enforcement authorities following the Sept. 12 incident.

At 4:12 p.m., Vermont State Police received a report from the Massachusetts State Police Shelburne Barracks that a vehicle nearly struck a Massachusetts State Trooper and continued into Vermont without stopping as Massachusetts police attempted to conduct a traffic stop.

The vehicle was last known to be driving on Interstate 91 north in Guilford.

Troopers from the Vermont State Police Westminster barracks responded and attempted to locate the vehicle.

The vehicle was later found abandoned at a gas station in Rockingham.

McAllister was located on U.S. Route 5 in Bellows Falls by Vermont State Police, who began an investigation.

Following the investigation, McAllister was arrested and transported to the Vermont State Police Barracks in Westminster for processing.

McAllister was issued a criminal citation and is scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Windham Criminal Division, on Sept. 15 at 12:30 p.m.
