OGDEN — A 24-year-old Hamlin man died Sunday night after losing control of his motorcycle while traveling at high speed on Washington Street.

Dylan Champion was riding a 2014 Ducati northbound on Washington Street at approximately 9 p.m. when he failed to navigate a curve and struck a guardrail in the 300 block, according to Ogden Police Chief Travis Gray.

Champion was pronounced dead at the scene.

The preliminary investigation determined Champion was traveling at a high rate of speed and was the sole rider of the motorcycle.

Other motorists witnessed the crash and immediately stopped to render aid.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Spencerport Fire District and Gates Volunteer Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation by the Ogden Police Department.

Preliminary findings indicate the crash was non-criminal in nature, with speed as the primary contributing factor.
