COLCHESTER — A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle driven by a 16-year-old on Malletts Bay Avenue Friday night.
Colchester police received 911 calls at approximately 8:52 p.m. reporting the crash near the intersection of Young Street.
Officers arrived to find a male pedestrian had been struck by a motor vehicle, with bystanders conducting resuscitative efforts.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by Colchester Rescue personnel.
The vehicle was being operated by a 16-year-old male.
Police are withholding the pedestrian’s identification until family notification and the driver’s identification due to his age.
Colchester police were assisted by Colchester Rescue, Colchester Fire and police departments from Winooski, Essex and Williston.
The investigation is in its initial stages.
Malletts Bay Avenue was closed to traffic but reopened at 12:01 a.m. Saturday.
