SOUTH DENNIS — A 9-1-1 call came into the Dennis Police Department on Aug. 13 at approximately 9:05 p.m. reporting the sound of a loud bang followed by a male party crying and limping in the parking lot of the Pier 134 Commons on Route 134.
Upon arrival, officers learned that a male party had been shot in the leg and he was being transported to Cape Cod Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Over the course of the investigation it was determined that the shooting was intentional and the male party was shot by a relative.
On Aug. 14 at approximately 4:45 p.m., detectives from the Dennis Police Department took Anthony Alan Delman-Edwards, 37, into custody with the assistance of the Harwich Police Department and the Regional Cape & Islands SWAT team.
Delman-Edwards was charged with assault and battery with dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, discharge of a firearm within 500 feet of a building, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and firearms violation with two prior violent/drug crimes.
Delman-Edwards was arraigned in Orleans District Court Thursday morning and will be held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing on Aug. 19.
The Dennis Police Department said the incident was not random and there is no additional threat to the safety of the community.
