SARATOGA COUNTY — A Halfmoon man was arrested Thursday on felony and misdemeanor charges related to an alleged sexual assault of a minor while working as a ride share driver.

Thomas F. Cipriano, 53, is charged with attempted rape in the second degree, a class E felony, as well as unlawful imprisonment and endangering the welfare of a child, both class A misdemeanors.

The charges stem from an Aug. 1 incident in Clifton Park, where Cipriano is accused of attempting to engage in oral sexual contact with a person under 15 years old.

Authorities say he restrained the victim and acted in a manner likely to harm their physical, mental, or moral welfare.

Sheriff Michael H. Zurlo urged ride share users to verify their drivers and share trip details for safety.

The case remains active.

Further proceedings will take place in Clifton Park Town Court.
