ORLEANS — The Lake Region Union High School class of 1975 celebrated its 50th reunion over Fourth of July weekend with festivities that brought together classmates from across the country.
The celebration began Friday evening, July 4, at Parker Pie in Glover, where 35 people including 23 classmates gathered for pizza and drinks. Bernard Lantagne generously donated the evening’s refreshments, setting a festive tone for the weekend.
Saturday’s main event started with a tour of Lake Region Union High School, which for many attendees was their first visit since graduation. Despite some minor changes, the school retained its familiar appearance, with classroom door numbers triggering memories of teachers and classmates as the group walked the hallways.
The reunion reception took place at the Orleans Country Club, where 68 people attended, including 47 classmates. The event was made possible through the generosity of two classmates: Dennis O’Connor, who traveled from Kansas and offered to pay for the entire meal, and Ted Davis, who covered the bar tab.
With decades having passed since many had last seen each other, name tags featuring yearbook pictures helped attendees recognize one another. Some classmates brought their significant others to meet old friends and share stories from their teenage years.
The evening concluded with heartfelt goodbyes and promises to stay connected while looking forward to future reunions. The success of the 50th reunion highlighted the enduring bonds of friendship and cherished memories from the class’s formative years.
