SAUGERTIES — Part-time Police Officer Sydney Mills was arrested this morning at the Saugerties Police Department following an investigation into alleged illegal sexual acts.

The investigation began several months ago when a Saugerties police officer received information about the situation and immediately reported it to the Chief of Police.

The Chief collaborated with Ulster County District Attorney Emmanuel Nneji to conduct a thorough and independent investigation, which ultimately led to the arrest of Officer Mills.

Officer Mills was taken into custody by the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Response Team and arraigned in Ulster County Court by Judge Brian Rounds.

Mills faces felony charges of Criminal Sexual Act 2nd Degree, Criminal Sexual Act 3rd Degree, Rape in the 3rd Degree, and the misdemeanor of Sexual Abuse 3rd Degree.

Mills has been remanded to the Ulster County Jail without bail.
