HASTINGS — A 2-year-old boy died after a single-vehicle crash on State Route 49 west of Canterbury Way on July 9.
The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office responded to the accident at approximately 7:33 p.m.
A 2011 Chrysler minivan was traveling west on State Route 49 when the 23-year-old female driver lost control of the vehicle.
The minivan traveled north off the roadway, overturned and struck a utility pole.
The driver was evaluated by medical staff at the scene and released.
Two passengers were transported to Upstate Medical University Hospital.
A 19-year-old female front passenger was admitted in stable condition.
The 2-year-old rear passenger was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The New York State Police, Central Square Police Department, Menter’s Ambulance, Central Square Volunteer Fire Department and Top Gun towing assisted at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
