Saugerties man arrested after handgun turned in at deli

SAUGERTIES — A Monroe County, New York man was arrested July 6 after a handgun was turned in to a clerk at Big Belly Deli, police said.

David W. Tallman Jr. was taken into custody at about 9 a.m. following an investigation that found he had possession of the firearm and discharged it in the parking lot before leaving it with the clerk and fleeing the scene, according to the Saugerties Police Department.

Tallman was charged with the felonies of criminal possession of a weapon in the 2nd degree and falsifying a business record.

He also faces misdemeanor charges of criminal impersonation in the 2nd degree and reckless endangerment in the 2nd degree.

Tallman was processed at the Saugerties Police Department and transported to CAP Court in Kingston where he was being held pending arraignment.
