Police: Colchester High School incident a hoax

1 min read

COLCHESTER — Police say a call reporting a violent act at Colchester High School was a hoax.

The caller stated that several students and a teacher were injured at around 9:40 a.m. today.

Responding officers met with school administrators and their response protocols were activated and the school placed in lockdown.

Police say they performed a safety sweep of the school and found that the information was false with no violent act having occurred.

At no time were students or staff in danger.

The school was able to return to normal activities at around 10:15 a.m.

Colchester Police say they received assistance from officers who were, by chance, attending a class at CPD headquarters.

From their law enforcement partners, police say several other communities received similar threats and in each instance found to be false.

Colchester Police wish to acknowledge the actions of the Colchester School District and their commitment to school safety.
