NEWARK, NJ — Police are seeking the public’s help identifying a female suspect in connection with a shooting that occurred Thursday, July 2.
At approximately 2:38 p.m., officers responded to a ShotSpotter notification at 15th Avenue and Hayes Street.
Responding officers did not locate any victims but observed ballistics evidence at the scene, including damage to a parked vehicle that had been struck by gunfire.
Police received a report of a juvenile male arriving at University Hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening gunshot injury.
The juvenile was identified as a suspect by surveillance cameras in the area.
He has been arrested on charges of two counts of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and possession of firearms by a minor.
Shooting detectives investigating this incident also observed a female at the scene and request the public’s help in identifying her.
