Drive-by shooting under investigation in Cranston

CRANSTON, RI — Cranston police are investigating a drive-by shooting that occurred Tuesday evening on Park Avenue.

Officers responded at about 8:41 p.m. to the area of Park Avenue and Potter Street after receiving reports of shots fired involving two vehicles.

Officers located the intended victim’s vehicle nearby and determined that multiple rounds had been fired into it.

The occupants were not injured.

Investigators also determined that a second vehicle traveling in the area was struck by gunfire.

The occupants of that vehicle were also unharmed.

Multiple shell casings and other evidence were recovered from the scene.

Surveillance video from nearby businesses and FLOCK automated license plate reader data are being reviewed.

The investigation remains active.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information, surveillance video, or dash camera footage from the area of Park Avenue and Potter Street between 8:15 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. on July 7 is asked to contact the Cranston Police Department Detective Division at 401-942-2211.
