WAWARSING, NY — A motorcyclist was killed in a collision on State Route 52 on July 2, 2026.
Troopers from the Ellenville barracks responded to the crash at approximately 7:19 p.m.
A preliminary investigation determined that a 2024 Yamaha motorcycle was traveling westbound on State Route 52 at an unsafe speed when, for unknown reasons, the motorcycle lost control and slid on its side.
The motorcycle crossed into the eastbound lane and collided with a 2021 Toyota, ultimately sliding under the vehicle.
The Toyota, in an attempt to avoid the motorcycle, steered to the right, crossed over the roadway hazard markings and struck a rock barrier.
The operator of the motorcycle was identified as Ryan M. Conklin, 18, of Spring Glen, New York.
Conklin was ejected from the motorcycle and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota was identified as Kimberly A. Gage, 57, of Pine Bush, New York.
Two passengers in the Toyota, a 77-year-old woman and a 79-year-old man, both of Milford, Pennsylvania, were transported to Ellenville Regional Hospital with minor injuries.
Gage was also transported to Ellenville Regional Hospital with minor injuries.
The investigation remains ongoing.
