WOLCOTT, NY — New York State Police responded to a fatal motor vehicle incident at a residence on Eades Road on July 6, 2026.
Police were called to the scene at approximately 8:29 p.m.
A delivery driver operating a 2025 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van pulled into the driveway while making a package delivery.
After stopping, the driver exited the vehicle to retrieve packages from the cargo area when the vehicle began rolling forward toward the residence.
Witnesses reported yelling to alert the driver that the van was moving.
The driver attempted to stop the vehicle before it struck the residence but lost his footing and became pinned between the moving van and a porch support.
The driver suffered severe head injuries.
Bystanders immediately moved the vehicle off the victim and began rendering aid until emergency responders arrived.
The victim was transported by ambulance to Upstate University Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The residence sustained minor damage as a result of the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
