LYONS, NY — New York State Police arrested five people on weapons charges following a reported altercation involving a firearm on June 30, 2026.
Troopers responded to a report of a physical altercation near William Street and Queen Street in the village of Lyons at approximately 4:56 p.m.
The investigation determined that a verbal dispute escalated into a physical altercation between multiple individuals.
During the incident, one of the occupants of a vehicle allegedly displayed a firearm and threatened the victim while preventing others from intervening.
Troopers located the suspect vehicle, a 2015 Chevrolet Trax, and conducted a traffic stop on Geneva Street in the town of Lyons.
All five occupants were detained.
During a protective frisk and subsequent probable cause search of the vehicle, troopers recovered two loaded handguns, including a loaded 9mm CZ P-07 equipped with a conversion kit and laser attachment, and a loaded Ruger .45 caliber pistol that was reported stolen by the Rochester Police Department in September 2024.
Troopers also recovered multiple high-capacity magazines and ammunition.
Justin T. Letts, 20, of Geneva, New York, was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon 2nd degree, criminal possession of a weapon 3rd degree, criminal possession of stolen property 4th degree and menacing 2nd degree.
Brandon Thomas, 19, of Waterloo, New York, was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon 2nd degree, criminal possession of a weapon 3rd degree and criminal possession of stolen property 4th degree.
Najib H. Brown, 21, of Waterloo, New York, was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon 2nd degree, criminal possession of a weapon 3rd degree and criminal possession of stolen property 4th degree.
Harmonajah D. Shorter, 20, of Waterloo, New York, was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon 2nd degree, criminal possession of a weapon 3rd degree and criminal possession of stolen property 4th degree.
Latrell A. Graves, 19, of Savannah, New York, was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon 2nd degree, criminal possession of a weapon 3rd degree and criminal possession of stolen property 4th degree.
All five individuals were processed at SP Lyons and transported to the Wayne County Jail for centralized arraignment.
The investigation remains ongoing by the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
