LEWISBORO, NY — A New York man was arrested on drunken driving charges after state police found him parked on the shoulder of Interstate 684 with a 1-year-old child in the vehicle.
New York State Police conducted a welfare check on a Jeep parked on the shoulder of the interstate at approximately 4:35 a.m. on June 28, 2026.
The operator, Yordi Silverio Marte Brito, 27, of New York, exhibited signs of intoxication during the investigation, according to police.
Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were administered.
A 1-year-old child was in the vehicle at the time, police said.
Marte was taken into custody and transported to State Police Somers for processing.
He submitted to a chemical breath test that yielded a blood alcohol content of 0.08%.
The child was safely released to a sober third party.
Marte was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger (Leandra’s Law), a Class E felony; Driving While Intoxicated with a Blood Alcohol Content of 0.08% or More, an unclassified misdemeanor; and Driving While Intoxicated, an unclassified misdemeanor.
He was issued traffic tickets returnable to the Town of Lewisboro Court on July 20, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
