DEKALB, NY — State Police arrested a man following a reported physical altercation on July 2, 2026.
Hunter B. Bishop, 22, of DeKalb Junction, was charged with Criminal Obstruction of Breathing or Blood Circulation, Unlawful Imprisonment in the Second Degree, and Harassment in the Second Degree.
Troopers responded to Tanner Street in the town of DeKalb at approximately 7:33 p.m. for a report of a physical altercation.
An investigation determined Bishop and the victim became involved in a verbal argument that escalated when Bishop allegedly struck the victim, choked them, and prevented them from leaving.
The victim was eventually able to escape and contact law enforcement.
Bishop was arrested and transported to State Police Gouverneur for processing.
He was arraigned in the Town of Gouverneur Court and released on his own recognizance.
