WARDSBORO, VT — Vermont State Police arrested a man following an altercation at a local general store on June 24, 2026.
Joshua K. Jones, 30, of Wardsboro, was taken into custody at approximately 2:49 p.m. after police were notified of an incident at the Wardsboro General Store at 23 Main Street.
An investigation revealed that Jones had violated active conditions of release when he made contact with Jonathan Gates, 59, of Wardsboro, outside the store.
Jones was arrested without incident and transported to the Westminster Barracks for processing.
He was lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility.
Jones is scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court Windham Criminal Division on June 25, 2026, at 12:30 p.m.
