Man arrested on motor vehicle theft charge in Hartford

HARTFORD, CT — A Windsor man was arrested June 8, 2026, after police say he fled from a stolen vehicle that was stopped using a tire deflation device.

Members of the Greater Hartford Regional Auto Theft Task Force were conducting proactive patrol when they observed a stolen Honda CR-V traveling north on Brook Street.

Detectives conducted surveillance on the vehicle and deployed a tire deflation device.

The deployment was successful, causing the vehicle to come to a stop.

The operator fled on foot in the area of 22 Fairmount Street but was quickly apprehended by pursuing detectives.

Demitrius Houcchen, 19, of Windsor, was arrested and charged with theft of a motor vehicle, larceny 1st degree, criminal trover 2nd degree and interfering with an officer.

The vehicle, a 2022 Honda CR-V, had been reported stolen from Hartford.
