PITTSFORD, VT — Vermont State Police arrested a local man on multiple charges including attempted arson and assault on June 21.
Troopers from the Vermont State Police Rutland Barracks responded to a report of suspicious activity at Champlain Farms at approximately 8:45 a.m.
The investigation revealed that Jeremie Bernard, 42, of Pittsford, had attempted to set the gas pumps on fire and had vandalized a neighboring residence.
Bernard also threatened to physically harm a neighbor, identified as Morgan McGee of Pittsford.
While troopers attempted to speak with Bernard, he became aggressive toward law enforcement and made life-endangering threats and actions toward them.
After a short standoff, Bernard was taken into custody without incident.
Bernard was transported to the Rutland Barracks for fingerprints and photographs.
He was then lodged at the Marble Valley Correctional Facility and held without bail.
Bernard faces charges of aggravated assault on a protected person, attempted arson, simple assault, unlawful mischief and disorderly conduct.
