NORTH SALEM, NY — New York State Police in Somers arrested Michael P. Danko, 46, of Somers, on June 1 following an investigation into an incident involving a female pedestrian in the town of North Salem.
The investigation began after a witness called 911 to report an encounter on Mills Road.
The victim, a 74-year-old woman, told police the incident was part of unwanted contact that had occurred over several months.
She reported that Danko repeatedly approached her while she was walking and made inappropriate comments that caused her to fear for her safety.
Following the investigation and consultation with the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, Danko was charged with fourth-degree stalking, a class B misdemeanor, and first-degree harassment, a class B misdemeanor.
Danko was arraigned in North Salem Justice Court, where a full stay-away order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim.
He is scheduled to return to court June 15 at 5:30 p.m.
