AKRON, PA — A man was arrested in Akron early Saturday morning on charges of stalking and harassment after police responded to a disturbance on Miller Road.
West Earl Township Police Department officers responded at about 4:45 a.m. to reports of a man yelling through the walls and attempting to harass and contact his neighbors.
The man, identified as Allen Weachter, 67, of Akron, has a prior history of harassment and stalking involving the same neighbors, according to police.
Officers attempted to engage Weachter upon arrival, but he refused to cooperate.
A warrant was subsequently obtained for Weachter’s arrest through District Judge Torrey Landis, charging him with felony stalking and misdemeanor harassment.
When officers executed the warrant, they found Weachter holding a knife inside the residence.
Police reported that Weachter was taken into custody without incident.
He was arraigned Saturday and held on $15,000 bail.
Weachter is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
