NORWALK, CT — A routine patrol of a parking lot led to the arrest of two people on gun charges early May 22, 2026.

A patrol officer conducting routine patrol in the rear parking lot of 650 Main Avenue observed a suspicious vehicle parked near industrial machinery at approximately 12:10 a.m.

Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer observed a male subject lying face down on the ground next to the vehicle.

A silver-and-black handgun was observed on the ground within the male’s immediate reach.

Two additional occupants were found sleeping inside the vehicle.

Additional officers responded to the scene, and the male subject, identified as Denver W. Lorentz Jr., was detained pending investigation.

Lorentz advised officers that the firearm belonged to one of the vehicle’s occupants, identified as Crystal R. Beadle.

Beadle stated that the firearm was hers and that she had purchased it in Texas.

She stated that she allowed Lorentz to carry the weapon because she did not believe she would be able to use it if necessary.

An extended magazine for the gun was also found in the vehicle.

Lorentz told officers that the group was traveling from Maine to Texas and had stopped at the location to rest.

Denver W. Lorentz Jr., 20, of Lufkin, Texas, was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit and illegal possession of a large capacity magazine.

Crystal R. Beadle, 38, of Humble, Texas, was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit and illegal possession of a large capacity magazine.

Both were held on $50,000 bond and are scheduled to appear in court June 5, 2026.
