Loaded firearm, crack-cocaine seized in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, MA — Police seized an illegal loaded firearm, crack cocaine and recovered a stolen motor vehicle Wednesday morning.

Around 7 a.m., officers responded to the 800 block of Beacon Circle for a well-being check on three subjects in a vehicle that had been reported stolen.

When officers arrived, the three subjects were asleep inside the stolen car.

The driver, a 17-year-old male, attempted to drive away, but officers thwarted that attempt and placed him under arrest.

The front seat passenger, later identified as Quadrevian Roman, ran away.

After a short foot pursuit, officers detained him.

Inside his fanny pack, officers recovered two large rocks of crack cocaine and more than $1,300 in cash.

Officers placed Roman under arrest.

The back seat passenger, later identified as Atavion Stewart, attempted to flee the vehicle but was immediately detained.

Officers recovered a loaded firearm on him.

The firearm was loaded with 13 rounds of ammunition and capable of holding 15 rounds.

Atavion Stewart, 20, of Springfield, is charged with carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a large capacity firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a high-capacity magazine/feeding device and receiving a stolen motor vehicle.

Quadrevian Roman, 19, of Springfield, is charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle and possession of a Class B drug.

Due to his age, the juvenile’s name and specific charges will not be released.
