WARRINGTON, PA — A Philadelphia man was arrested on a warrant after police said he fled a traffic stop in Warrington on Nov. 13.
Police said an officer on patrol near Lowe’s at about 10:49 a.m. saw a suspicious man dressed in black clothing and wearing a black face mask repeatedly entering and exiting the store and wandering through the parking lot.
According to police, the man approached and entered a parked vehicle that returned no registration information when checked through police systems.
Police said a second officer arrived in a marked patrol vehicle, and the man walked away from the car while trying to avoid being seen before heading toward the store, turning around and returning to the vehicle.
The man then got into the vehicle and drove south on Easton Road, police said.
According to police, officers activated emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop, and the vehicle appeared to pull over before suddenly accelerating and fleeing at a high rate of speed.
Police said officers then deactivated their emergency equipment.
During the pursuit, police said the driver passed vehicles in the center turn lane and drove through a red signal at County Line Road by crossing a concrete median and entering oncoming traffic.
Investigators later identified the driver as Jasaan Quadir Thomas, 22, of Philadelphia.
Police said a warrant was issued for Thomas’ arrest, and Philadelphia police arrested him on the warrant on May 19.
Warrington police took custody of Thomas in Philadelphia and transported him to the police station for processing.
Thomas was charged with fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, recklessly endangering another person, driving without a license, driving on roadways laned for traffic, a traffic control signal violation, and driving while operating privilege suspended.
Police said Thomas was arraigned by Judge Petrucci, who set bail at $50,000 or 10% cash.
Unable to post bail, Thomas was remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility.
