PEN ARGYL, PA — A 46-year-old man was arrested after officers responded to a reported domestic incident in progress at about 5:06 a.m. May 3 in the 100 block of North Harding Avenue, according to police.
Nicholas R. Sutton, of Pen Argyl, was charged with aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
Police said multiple calls were received reporting a man in the street breaking glass and furniture.
When officers arrived, they found Sutton acting erratically and covered in blood, police said.
Police said Sutton ignored commands and charged at officers while holding a bag of mulch above his head.
Officers used Tasers to stop his advance and attempted to take him into custody, police said.
Police said Sutton continued to ignore commands until additional officers arrived and he was placed in handcuffs.
During the investigation, officers learned Sutton had shattered the front door of the residence and thrown furniture around while a juvenile was present and sleeping nearby, according to police.
Sutton was taken to Northampton County Prison following the investigation, police said.
