MIDDLETOWN, CT — Police are continuing to investigate a shots fired incident that occurred May 19 in the area of Westlake Drive.
The investigation determined that Christopher Lane, who is known to the victim, allegedly discharged a firearm following a dispute involving the occupants of a vehicle at approximately 4:43 p.m.
The victim was not struck and was able to flee the area safely.
Officers immediately responded and conducted an extensive search utilizing multiple K-9 teams, drones, and regional law enforcement resources.
Shelter-in-place advisories were issued as a precaution for portions of the Westlake, East Street, and Atkins Street areas during the search.
Despite extensive efforts throughout the evening, Lane was not located.
He is believed to be armed and dangerous.
The Middletown Police Department was assisted by the Cromwell Police Department, Connecticut State Police, the FBI New Haven Field Office, Middletown Fire Department, and regional Emergency Response Teams.
