ANDOVER, MA — Police and fire crews rescued an unresponsive juvenile male from Field Pond on Tuesday afternoon.
Chief Patrick Keefe reports that first responders arrived at the shoreline at 4:31 p.m. May 19.
Several male juveniles on the opposite shoreline directed first responders to where the victim was last seen before going underwater.
The pond is located in Harold Parker State Forest near 6 Farrwood Drive.
First responders entered the water using a paddle board and personal flotation devices.
They located the juvenile approximately 25 feet from shore, submerged in approximately 10 to 12 feet of water.
First responders pulled the male from the water, placed him on the paddle board and immediately began life-saving measures.
The male was brought back to shore where paramedics from Lawrence General Hospital were waiting.
He was transported by ambulance to Lawrence General Hospital.
He was later transported via Boston Medflight to a Boston hospital for further treatment.
The incident remains under investigation.
No information regarding the juvenile’s condition was available.
