Kitchen fire extinguished in Frankfort

FRANKFORT, NY — Firefighters extinguished a kitchen fire at a residence on Fourth Avenue Extension on May 18.

The Frankfort Fire Department was dispatched at 1:56 p.m. to investigate reports of smoke coming from a house at 518 Fourth Ave Extension.

Truck 404 arrived within minutes and confirmed smoke showing from the structure.

Chief Matt Palumbo declared a working kitchen fire and requested an engine company from Ilion Fire Department and an ambulance from MOVAC as the resident suffered smoke inhalation.

The Red Cross was notified to assist the resident.

An aggressive interior attack stopped the fire from spreading throughout the building.

The fire was declared under control shortly thereafter.

Crews remained on scene performing overhaul for the next hour.

All units were back in service at 4:30 p.m.

Eighteen Frankfort Fire Department personnel responded under the direction of Chief Palumbo in addition to the Ilion Fire Department and MOVAC crews.

Frankfort Power and Light personnel cut power to the building.

Frankfort Town Police Department also assisted at the scene.
