SPRINGFIELD, MA — Two men were arrested and police seized two illegal firearms along with trafficking amounts of cocaine and fentanyl following a months-long investigation, authorities said Friday.
Members of the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit, Emergency Services Unit, Hampden County Sheriff’s Department and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Task Force executed a search warrant at a home on the 0-100 block of Marsden Street at approximately 5:35 a.m.
Roberto Falcon, 46, of Springfield, and David Torres, 44, of Westfield, were detained during the search.
Police recovered a large-capacity firearm loaded with 12 rounds of ammunition, a second illegal firearm loaded with nine rounds of ammunition, more than 100 rounds of various ammunition and three additional firearm magazines.
Detectives also seized approximately 78.1 grams of cocaine, approximately 10.9 grams of fentanyl, 241 bags of heroin and $1,633 in cash.
The Firearms Investigation Unit had been investigating the illegal distribution of narcotics from the home for several months before obtaining the search warrant.
Falcon has previous convictions for cocaine trafficking, possession of a firearm without an FID card, possession of ammunition and assault with a dangerous weapon.
He also has open cases in Hampden Superior Court for possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, breaking and entering and drug charges.
Falcon was charged with cocaine trafficking 36-100 grams, fentanyl trafficking more than 10 grams, firearm violation with three prior violent/drug crimes, improper storage of a large capacity firearm, improper storage of a firearm, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a large capacity firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a large capacity firearm, possession of a firearm without an FID card, possession of ammunition without an FID card subsequent offense, possession with the intent to distribute a Class A drug subsequent offense and an arrest warrant from Springfield District Court.
Torres was charged with carrying a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, possession of a large capacity magazine/feeding device, improper storage of a firearm and three arrest warrants from Springfield District Court and Westfield District Court.
