Teen arrested on DUI charge in Rockingham

ROCKINGHAM, VT — A Massachusetts teenager was arrested on a DUI charge after a deputy observed him speeding in the breakdown lane.

On May 15, at approximately 8:30 p.m., a deputy with the Windham County Sheriff’s Office observed two vehicles traveling at very high rates of speed northbound on Route 103.

Both vehicles were side by side, with one in the breakdown lane and the other in the travel lane.

The deputy stopped the vehicle speeding in the breakdown lane.

Clues of alcohol impairment were observed from the operator, Murphy Senecal, 19, of Littleton, Massachusetts.

A subsequent DUI investigation revealed that Senecal was impaired by alcohol rendering him unsafe to operate a motor vehicle.

Senecal was arrested and processed at the Bellows Falls Police Department where he was issued a criminal citation and released to a sober adult.

He is scheduled to appear in court on June 2.
