TONAWANDA, NY — A 63-year-old Tonawanda man was killed after he was struck by an Amtrak train at about 10:38 p.m. May 13 just north of Sheridan Drive near Military Road, police said.
Michael Lukacz, of Tonawanda, was found dead at the scene, according to the Town of Tonawanda Police Department.
Police said Lukacz appeared to have been attempting to walk across the train tracks when he was struck.
The Amtrak train was carrying passengers bound for Niagara Falls, police said.
No passengers or crew members were injured, according to police.
The Town of Tonawanda Police Department’s Accident Investigation Unit is investigating.
Police said no further details would be released at this time.
