SOUTH HADLEY, MA — A man walking to his disabled vehicle with a gas can was arrested on drug charges after police discovered suspected narcotics in the SUV on May 2.
Officer Kapinos responded to a report of an unoccupied vehicle blocking the exit of the Skala School on Granby Road.
Upon arrival, the officer observed items consistent with those used to ingest and package both powder and crack cocaine inside the SUV.
After Officer Farber arrived, officers observed a male walking to the car carrying a gas can.
The man initially stated he was a passenger and that his girlfriend must have left.
A search of the vehicle and the man revealed items suspected of being heroin and crack cocaine, as well as a crack pipe and narcotic packaging.
The man later admitted to possessing the drugs and driving the vehicle.
He is charged with possession of a Class A substance, subsequent offense, and possession of a Class B substance, subsequent offense.
