Bristol man cited in Monkton crash

MONKTON, VT — A Bristol man has been cited on a negligent operation charge following a two-vehicle crash that resulted in serious injuries.

Adam P. Premo, 34, of Bristol, was cited to appear in Addison County Superior Court, Criminal Division on July 6, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. to answer to the charge of Negligent Operation – Serious Bodily Injury Resulting.

On April 6, 2026, at approximately 7:42 a.m., troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Bristol Road near the intersection with E. View Road in Monkton.

Investigation revealed Premo was traveling south on Bristol Road in a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox when he entered the northbound lane of travel before colliding with a 2015 Toyota Rav4 driven by Abagail L. Nicholson-Wemette, 22, of Middlebury, who was traveling north on Bristol Road.

Premo’s vehicle came to rest facing east in the northbound lane of travel.

Nicholson-Wemette’s vehicle came to rest facing south on the northbound shoulder of Monkton Road.

Both operators were wearing seat belts.

Premo sustained suspected moderate injuries and was transported to University of Vermont Medical Center.

Nicholson-Wemette sustained suspected serious injuries and was transported to University of Vermont Medical Center.

Weather conditions were cloudy and road conditions were dry at the time of the crash.

Troopers were assisted on scene by the Middlebury Police Department, Monkton Fire, Bristol Rescue Squad and Midstate Towing.
