UPPER CHICHESTER, PA — A 63-year-old man has been charged in connection with a robbery at a supermarket on Conchester Highway.
Officers from the Upper Chichester Township Police Department responded to a reported robbery at the ACME supermarket at approximately 10:16 p.m. on May 9.
Police said a male suspect approached an employee working in the self-checkout area and requested assistance making change.
While the register drawer was open, the suspect threatened the employee by claiming he had a firearm and demanded money from the register, according to police.
The suspect removed cash from the register and fled the store on foot, police said.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
Through the investigation, detectives identified the suspect as Phillip Edward Harris, of Pennsylvania.
Investigators linked Harris to the incident through surveillance footage, license plate reader data, and evidence connected to a separate robbery investigation in neighboring Lower Chichester Township, police said.
Harris was taken into custody without incident on May 10.
He has been charged with robbery, receiving stolen property, theft by unlawful taking, terroristic threats and recklessly endangering another person.
