Woman arrested for theft from vehicles in Valley Stream

VALLEY STREAM, NY — A Coney Island woman was arrested after allegedly stealing from parked vehicles early Friday morning.

Nassau County Police Fifth Precinct officers responded to a call of a suspicious female inside a victim’s parked vehicle on Munro Boulevard at 1:35 a.m. on May 8.

A description of the suspect was broadcast and a canvassing Canine Unit officer located the woman on Munro Boulevard and conducted an investigation.

During the arrest, the defendant, Charmaine Skeen, 21, of Coney Island, was violent and combative while resisting arrest, according to police.

Further investigation revealed that Skeen took items from a second vehicle and was in possession of the victim’s personal identification and property at the time of the arrest.

Skeen was charged with grand larceny fourth degree, criminal possession of stolen property fourth degree, petit larceny, resisting arrest, criminal mischief fourth degree, obstructing governmental administration second degree and harassment second degree.
