Man taken into custody after barricade situation in Monroeville

MONROEVILLE, PA — A man was taken into custody without incident after a more than four-hour barricade situation Tuesday.

The Allegheny County Police Department’s Special Weapons and Tactics Team was notified at 1 p.m. of a male barricaded inside a residence in the 200 block of Blue Grass Circle.

Negotiators made contact with the man, who was threatening to harm himself and responding officers.

At 5:17 p.m., the man exited the rear of the residence unarmed and was taken into custody.

No injuries were reported to the individual involved or responding officers.

SWAT officers cleared the residence.

The scene was turned over to Monroeville Police for further investigation and any potential charges.
